Marriott Grand Beach: Annual Meeting Feb 14th 2009


Last business meeting of conference.

February 14, 2009Marriott Grande Dunes – Myrtle BeachSCSNM 1st Business Meeting President Janice White called the meeting to order at 12:00Minutes from last meeting was read. Motion was made and seconded to accept minutes. Nominating committee chair, Sonya Richardson   introduced Tanya Pettigrew as this year’s candidate for president-elect. She then went on to introduce Betty Corley and Melissa Dutton as the candidates for Treasurer. Legislative chair, Cindi Luckett-Gilbert briefly discussed the legislative report. A motion was made and seconded to accept the report.Scholarship committee chair Karen Lauffer spoke of the guidelines for student and tech scholarships and reminded everyone that there is money out there for techs as well as students. Karen then announced that Alex Corley was this year’s recipient of the student scholarship. President Janice White reminded everyone that our next annual meeting will be held in Charleston at the Marriott Riverfront Feb. 5 to Feb. 7, 2010. The annual meeting coordinator Eileen Harp addressed some concerns people were having over the price of the hotel in Charleston as well as Myrtle Beach. President Janice White then opened the floor for discussion on alternative ways to do our meetings. She also asked that a committee be formed with volunteers from both the board and members to explore all possibilities and post them on the website. She than asked that the members please go to the website view the suggestions and give feedback.  President Janice White discussed the current state of our website and what she would like to do with it. She asked for a volunteer from the members to take over the website with the understanding that it is a voluntary position not a paid one. Kirsten Rafferty volunteered to do the website. Janice then appointed Kathi Knight as the contact person for the webmaster.President Janice White adjourned the meeting at 12:34.  Sincerely,Nina GailesSecretary, SCSNM
