Technetium SHORTAGE!!! Big Impact  2009

Two engineers familiar with the Chalk River reactor in Ontario, Canada, said the heavy water leak recently discovered at the facility might take at least eight months to repair or might not be repaired at all. Atomic Energy of Canada, which operates the reactor where more than half of the world's medical isotopes are produced, earlier said repair works could take "more than a month," and medical officials are using this timeline to plan for a possible isotope shortage.
